Revision as of 21:26, 8 October 2021
Vehicle bodies, also known as Battle-Cars, are the most basic and important method of player customization.
Rocket League, at its base, features ten standard car bodies. Four of these vehicles are available by default, while the other six require completed matches to unlock. These ten default cars are classified as Common rarity. Each vehicle body is assigned to one of six possible Body Types.
Psyonix introduces new Battle-Cars via Blueprints, the Item Shop, and the Rocket Pass. There are currently over 75 vehicle bodies. They are listed below:
Common
Common Vehicles:
- See also: Non-Crate Items
Most Common bodies can be unlocked simply by completing matches. Since Patch v1.79, the default cars unlocked from the beginning are Octane, Breakout, and Merc. The default cars used to be Octane, Gizmo, Road Hog, and X-Devil.
On August 3, 2017, Psyonix introduced painted variants of some Common bodies, which could be obtained via the trade-in system.[1] These variants are classified as Import rarity.
Breakout, Octane and Merc are granted to every player from beginning, other cars need to be unlocked via New Driver Challenges.
Platform Exclusives
The PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch game versions include console-exclusive unlockable Battle-Cars (Sweet Tooth for the PlayStation 4; Hogsticker and Armadillo for the Xbox One; Mario NSR, Luigi NSR, and Samus' Gunship for the Nintendo Switch).
The Hogsticker and Armadillo bodies are only available in the Xbox versions of the game.
- The Hogsticker is unlocked by playing one match with every common body.
- The Armadillo is unlocked by completing a season in the single-player Season Mode.
The Luigi NSR, Mario NSR, and Samus' Gunship bodies are only available for Nintendo Switch players.
- The Mario NSR may only be used while on the orange team, while the Luigi NSR is only available on the blue team. They are unlocked for Switch users by default at the beginning of the game.
- Samus' Gunship is unlocked by completing matches.
The Sweet Tooth body is only available in the PlayStation 4 version of the game.
- It is unlocked by playing one match with every common body.
Very Rare
As of Patch v1.81, The following vehicle bodies are now Very Rare quality and can be obtained from Drops. If you have played Rocket League prior to Free To Play then you will see them as Legacy quality.
Note - Even if you have the Legacy version of this vehicle it is still possible to obtain a duplicate from drops in which case it will be classified as Very Rare.
Import
These bodies can be acquired from Blueprints, or through the trade-in system when players trade in five Very Rare items. Import-rarity painted versions of Common vehicle bodies can be obtained exclusively through trade-ins. All import bodies can be traded between players.
Some import bodies are special variants of another Battle-Car, and therefore have the same hitboxes, physics, and turning radii as their original counterparts. These include the Octane ZSR, the Breakout Type-S, and the Road Hog XL.
On October 19, 2020 Psyonix announced that Ecto-1 licensed car is making its way back to the Item Shop, and wrote that they are looking into bringing previous licensed cars back too. (Untradeable but Cross-Platform usable)
