Categories - The Saga

For those who haven't checked the recent activity, I've been categorizing images for some time now. Categories is a feature that simply enables one to put a tag (link) on a file or page. Along with the categorization of the images it made sense to also rename them to the same format(s). The desired image name formats (when they exist) are in each category and respective sub-categories. E.g. check, the biggest category by far called Icons: https://rocketleague.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Icons

The organization of the images in categories was something that existed when I started editing this wiki, but it was a complete mess. There were duplicate categories for the same kind of images, some sub-categories were also missing... for me if it existed it should be completed and organized to make any kind of sense (or be deleted). Categories aren't all that useful, they can be cool to check all the items in a item category for example and that sort of thing. For them to have a purpose I purpose the Manual of Style to be updated and to direct people into the Images category e.g. to check for the file formats before uploading an image.

I'm not finished yet, but I'm close (I think), I've been using this page: https://rocketleague.fandom.com/wiki/Special:UncategorizedFiles, to categorize the images, but it only has 1000 cached entries and only updates one a day, I've been doing this slowly. The process made me realize that there were lots of duplicate images in the wiki, some I deleted already, some may remain principally in "Wheel icons" and "Painted wheel icons" categories. That's some maintenance work that still needs to be done, verify if there are for example 13 of each painted variants per wheel, verifying that there are no more duplicates, and renaming lots and lots of images to comply with the determined formats.

Maintenance

1. I would like to have some help in the renaming of the painted images, as it is a very boring and not rewarding process and to really finish this stuff. Also, I would like to know if you find the formats reasonable or should we allow more formats (some existing ones, to diminish the number of images needing renaming?)? At the moment only "Painted wheel icons" category has 3 formats. This was decided to avoid renaming hundreds more images (old named images). In other "Painted" categories only 1 format is available at the moment, should the list be extended in compliance with the "Painted wheel icons" formats? https://rocketleague.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Wheel_icons https://rocketleague.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Painted_wheel_icons

2. Update the MoS for categorizing, naming of images and other possible missing stuff.

3. Check the unused files and add them to the "Delete candidates" category, if they possibly will never have an use again or if they're completely useless delete them immediately. https://rocketleague.fandom.com/wiki/Special:UnusedFiles?limit=500&offset=0

Organization

4. The toppers page was the first thing I've worked on this wiki. At some point I realized that there was a lot of unused space in the galleries...so I resized it to fit perfectly 5 columns. In other galleries across the wiki it is possible to see this empty space still. Is this space intentional? 5 column makes the images too small? If the answers to both question is "No", I purpose all galleries to be updated to 5 columns. What do you think of that change? Didn't change other galleries because I thought it might have a reason.

5. Painted items pages have lots of different texts. Is this a good thing because it adds variety or should there be a formalized text format?

New features and content

6. Also in some painted item pages, the text can be almost dispensable if there was a template box like there is in body pages. Could that be interesting or is the text good as it is? Just writing here some ideas...looking for opinions. Maybe template box, but still keep the text?

7. To make categories a little bit more interesting, add statistics to it? X painted items. Y black possible variants, etc... Maybe this would make the page too big?

8. Also noticed in the uncategorized image pages lots of crate item preview images! Made a category called "Images - crate showcase" is this a good name, should I categorize all those images or you have a better idea? To finish, since crates will be removed maybe it could be a good idea to finish that set of images and take some screenshots of the missing crates :D (and find a use for those images in the wiki)

Thank you for your attention! Looking forward for your opinions :D
