Toppers are a customization option in Rocket League. They represent a type of hat placed on top of the vehicle. Toppers record the number of goals scored while equipped. They can be certified or painted. Toppers are purely cosmetic items.

Common

Toppers listed here are unlocked by completing matches. There are, in total, 32 common toppers to be collected.

Platform exclusives

The Luigi and Mario toppers are exclusive to the Nintendo Switch platform, and can be used on Luigi NSR, Mario NSR and any non-licensed Battle-Cars.[1] They are automatically unlocked for Switch users by default.

Very Rare

The following toppers can be found as a random drop by leveling up in online matches, or by trading in five rare items.

Limited

These toppers are only available for a set period of time, often during events, before they are made unobtainable. However, they can always be traded between players.

Alpha Reward

The Gold Cap topper was made available only to players who participated in the Alpha testing of Rocket League, and who also sent out invites to other people to participate in the Alpha. Additionally, it was available to PC players only.

Beat Saber

The following topper will be automatically rewarded as soon as you login to Rocket League[2]

Competitive Season 1

Players who participated in the Competitive playlists during Season 1 received these limited toppers as a reward when the season ended. Toppers were awarded to a player based on the highest rank they reached. These items cannot be traded with other players.

Jazwares

Hot Wheels RC Rivals topper is available as a code obtainable from the purchase of the Hot Wheels Rocket League RC Rivals set in stores.[3] Showman topper is available as a code obtainable from the purchase of the Takumi single pack (https://www.jazwares.com/ toy) in stores.[4]

RLCS Fan Rewards

Fan Rewards Phase 1

Players who registered for Fan Rewards and watched the RLCS enabled for item drops on Twitch starting from June 2, 2017 to January 28, 2018 could receive these limited items as a random drop during the live broadcast.

Fan Rewards Phase 2

Players who registered for Fan Rewards and watched the RLCS and RLRS enabled for item drops on Twitch starting from March 10, 2018 could receive these limited items as a random drop during the live broadcast.

Fan Rewards Phase 3

Players who registered for Fan Rewards and watched eligible Twitch streams, could receive these limited items as a random drop during the live broadcast.

Special Events

Anniversary

The Birthday Bash and Battle-Cars Anniversary toppers were available for purchase as part of the 2018 Anniversary Event. Both cost 50 "Balloons."

Beach Blast

Introduced as part of the 2018 Beach Blast special event, each topper can be purchased using "Shells."

Easter

The Easter toppers were available from March 22nd to April 17th, 2017.

The Pastel Eggs topper was available from April 10th to April 12th, 2020.[5]

Frosty Fest

Frosty Fest 2017

The following toppers were available for purchase as part of the 2017 Frosty Fest event. Each item's price (in "Snowflakes") is listed in brackets.

Frosty Fest 2018

The following toppers were available for purchase as part of the 2018 Frosty Fest event. Each topper could be purchased for 50 "Snowflakes".

Frosty Fest 2019

The following toppers were available for purchase as part of the 2019 Frosty Fest event. Each topper could be purchased for 75 "Snowflakes".

Halloween

The Pumpkin topper was available from October 18 to November 2, 2015, for Halloween. It was again available along with new Halloween toppers from October 18 to November 4, 2016.

Haunted Hallows

Haunted Hallows 2017

These toppers were introduced as part of the 2017 Haunted Hallows special event. Each topper could be purchased for 20 "Candy Corn".

Haunted Hallows 2018

These toppers were introduced as part of the 2018 Haunted Hallows special event. Each topper could be purchased for 50 "Candy Corn".

Haunted Hallows 2019

These toppers were introduced as part of the 2019 Haunted Hallows special event. Each topper could be purchased for 75 "Candy Corn".

Holidays

The Holiday toppers were available from December 14th, 2015 to January 4th, 2016. They were again available along with new Holiday toppers from December 7th, 2016 to January 2nd, 2017. Players could purchase these items with "Snowflakes".

Lucky Lanterns

These toppers were introduced as part of the 2020 Lucky Lanterns special event. Each topper could be purchased for 75 "Red Envelopes".

Radical Summer

These toppers were each available for a limited time in the three phases of the Radical Summer event. Players could purchase them with the event currency, Cassettes.

'80s Blockbuster

These toppers are characterized for being part of famous movie franchises of the '80s. Each topper could be purchased for 75 "Cassettes".

'80s Culture

These toppers are based on what characterized the culture of the '80s. Each topper could be purchased for 75 "Cassettes".

'80s Television

These toppers are characterized for being part of famous television franchises of the '80s. Each topper could be purchased for 75 "Cassettes".

Spring Fever

Introduced as part of the 2018 Spring Fever special event, each topper could be purchased using "Flowers."

Twitch Prime

The following topper can be obtained by linking your Twitch Prime account with your Rocket League platform of choice.[6]

White Hat Hackers Reward

The White Hat topper is recorded to be owned only by four players. They received the topper by helping developers fix a critical exploit in the game, instead of abusing the exploit themselves.[7] The topper cannot be obtained by any other means, but it can be traded.

The term White Hat refers to an ethical computer hacker, or a computer security expert, who specializes in penetration testing and in other testing methodologies to ensure the security of an organization's information systems.

Premium

These toppers are only available by purchasing the related DLC for them.

Chaos Run

The following toppers are only available by purchasing the Chaos Run DLC Pack.

Ecto-1

The following topper is only available by purchasing the Ghostbusters™ Ecto-1 Car Pack.

Hot Wheels® Triple Threat

The following toppers are only available by purchasing the Hot Wheels® Triple Threat DLC Pack.

Jurassic World™

The following topper is only available by purchasing the Jurassic World™ Car Pack.

K.I.T.T.

The K.I.T.T. Gullwing topper moves while in-game, depending on the controlling movements of the player. This is the first topper to behave in such a manner. It is only available by purchasing the Knight Rider™ K.I.T.T. Car Pack.

MLB Fan Pack

Toppers found in this group are only available by purchasing the MLB Fan Pack. It includes toppers for every AL and NL team (2019 Season).
