On April Fools' Day in 2021, there were no game-altering pranks, but the Drink Helmet topper was re-released in the Item Shop for 0 Credits.

GifYourGame[]

In 2021, the popular Rocket League clip-saving tool GifYourGame also did something for April Fools' Day. Clipping a Rocket League play using GifYourGame revealed a jester ball.[4]

For April Fools' Day in 2020, Psyonix did nothing.

On March 31, 2019 as part of an April Fools' Day joke, Psyonix changed the casual playlist icons and descriptions.

Followed by this comment on April 1, 2019:
@RocketLeague on Twitter: "We did some spring cleaning for the Casual Playlists. Hope you like the new digs! https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D3CZen8U8AYkYQm.png"

Credit goes to SWatercolour for the icons.

On March 31, 2018 as part of an April Fools' Day joke, Psyonix posted the following:
@RocketLeague on Twitter: "Oh, well this is embarrassing. Embiggened Mode must have been triggered by a weird sequence in the chronometer..."

  • Followed by this news article on April 1, 2018[5]:
Quote_icon  Most Battle-Car Toppers in Rocket League are currently stuck in an experimental ‘Embiggened Mode’ that appears to have been triggered by a specific numerical sequence found in the game's chronometer. We are working to address it, but our engineers seem to think that letting the chronometer run its cycle will likely clear everything up by tomorrow.  Quote_icon
  • On April 2, 2018 toppers were returned to normal size:
@RocketLeague on Twitter: "Embiggened Mode has run its course and all Toppers should be back to their large-but-not-too-large size. Thanks everyone and we hope you had fun with us this weekend!!! ⚽️🚗🎩🔥"

On March 31, 2017 as part of an April Fools' Day joke, Psyonix announced new ranks would be implemented in the game.[6] Shortly after the announcement the actual rank images had changed in game. The new ranks were:

Icon Name Description
Seedling Seedling None - Unranked
Potato Potato Hearty, solid, and unflashy. Potato players have a lot of potential, but need more time in the oven of competition.
Onion Onion However you dice them, these players are versatile, but still learning how to mix well with others. Occasional mistakes can make teammates cry.
Corn Corn These players have used their eyes and ears to pop above the maize of the lower ranks.
Broccoli Broccoli Heady players that stalk the field with a purpose.
Radish Radish Esteemed players that often have deep roots in the community.
Purple cabbage Purple Cabbage The cream of the crop, they often steam their opponents. These champions are not your garden variety veterans, are extremely versatile, and mix well with a variety of teammates.
Grand eggplant Grand Eggplant Only the best Rocket League players have grown their skills enough to reach this exclusive rank.
